[edit] Notes & News
Status: Traded on July 8, 2008 to the Oakland Athletics with OF Matt Murton, 2B/OF Eric Patterson and C Josh Donaldson(minors) for RHP Rich Harden and RHP Chad Gaudin. He was later named the player to be named later in a deal with the San Diego Padres for Scott Hairston in 2009 with the Padres, who also received Ryan Webb and Craig Italiano.
Gallagher was committed to Florida International University and most teams felt he would go to college. On draft day, he was visiting his Dad in Boston and flying back to Florida and couldn't access his phone. Other teams were interested in drafting him and wanted to know what he'd be willing to sign for, but only Cub scout Rolando Pino was able to get through to his father who expressed Gallagher's desire to play professional baseball. The Cubs took a chance at drafting him and he signed for just $60,000.

[edit] Scouting Report
Fastball (tops at 93mph, works at 89-91mph), Curveball, change-up. He started working on a slider after being called up to majors as pitching coach Larry Rothschild believed it would work better than his curveball against righties coming out of same arm slot as his fastball.
