Started off as the New York Gothams in 1883, changed to the Giants two years later and then moved to San Francisco in 1958. They faced the Cubs once in the playoffs in 1989, defeating them 4-1. They also tied the Cubs in 1998 for the wild card spot and lost the tie-breaker game.
