[edit] Rumored Deals Involving Chicago Cubs

Before the 2009 season, Cubs were heavily rumored to be pursuing RHP Jake Peavy. Much like the Brian Roberts trade, just about every top Cub prospect was named and Padres general manager Kevin Towers saying, there's a package there that will satisfy us. Ultimately Hendry decided the package was too steep after supposedly taking a walk on the Vegas strip.[1] One scenario was a three or four team trade involving the Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Orioles that would send Mark DeRosa to the Phillies, Felix Pie to the Orioles and Sean Marshall, J.A. Happ and Garrett Olson to the Padres and with Jason Marquis going to the O's or Phillies as well to relieve some salary issues for the Cubs. [2] [3]
