New York Yankees
The Cubs and Yankees have met twice in the World Series in 1932 and 1938. The Yankees swept both series including the infamous "called shot" by Babe Ruth in the 1932 series. The Cubs played the first preseason games at the new Yankee Stadium prior to Opening Day in 2009. The teams have met twice in interleague play in 2003 and 2005.

 Rumored Deals Involving Chicago Cubs
During the trade deadline in 2000, there were heavy rumors that the Yankees were interested in Sammy Sosa, possibly for Alfonso Soriano. The Yankees ended up trading for David Justice instead without giving up Soriano who was later moved for Alex Rodriguez.
