Cubs Silver Slugger Award Winners
From Wiklifield
In 1980 Hillerich & Bradsby, the maker of Louisville Slugger bats, began awarding the Silver Slugger Award to the best offensive player at each position in each league. The winners are decided by a vote of all Major League managers and coaches who are not allowed to vote for players on their own team. In total, eight Cubs have won the award a total of 21 times. Ryne Sandberg currently holds the record for most Silver Slugger Awards by a second baseman with seven. A full listing of all Cubs who have won the award in reverse chronological order is provided below.
