The Cleveland Indians are one of the original American League franchises that began play in 1901 as the Cleveland Blues. They were known as the Cleveland Bronchos for 1902, then the Cleveland Naps from 1903 to 1914 before finally settling on the Cleveland Indians in 1915. The two franchises first met in 1997 when interleague play began and played against each other to finish the decade. They have met twice in the following decade in 2006 and 2009.
