The Cubs 2007 draft featured 22 pitchers(15 right-handed, 7 left-handed), 12 infielders (2 shortstops, 3 second basemen, 4 third basemen, 2 first basemen, 1 infielder), 10 outfielders, and 6 catchers. They drafted 37 players out of college, 5 out of junior and community colleges and another 8 out of high school. It was scouting director Tim Wilken's second draft for the Cubs.
- The Cubs supplemental round pick was given to them when Type B free agent Juan Pierre was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers. They forfeited their second round pick to the Washington Nationals when they signed Type A outfielder Alfonso Soriano.
